Geraldines GFC is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our esteemed Honorary President and Trustee, Mr Phil Lynch.

From a famed Geraldines family, Phil gave a lifetime of service to ensure that the Geraldines wanted for nothing. His contribution to the club was immense and his legacy will endure for generations.

The legendary Parish Week was a highlight of the year for so many, while his innovative fundraising ideas, including scratch cards before they had even reached these shores, helped provide vital support for the club.

Perhaps most significantly, Phil’s work in negotiating a new home for Geraldines GFC at McGeough Park safeguarded the future of the club and provided a foundation from which generations of players have benefited.

As a mark of respect, all Geraldines activity in McGeough Park will cease until after Phil’s funeral on Friday.

We will be forever grateful for everything Phil did for Geraldines GFC and for every boy and girl in the communities of Haggardstown and Blackrock.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Phil’s family, friends and all who knew him.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
